I met Elena a few weeks ago, when Oscar was invited to preach at the Peninsula Vineyard. During the prayer time the Lord had us pray specifically for a re-establishing of the reflection of Christ in her body, soul and spirit. Elena wept into my shoulder, through our prayer and song, with all the weariness of a battle weary young soldier, who refuses to give up. This blog is for Elena and a request for you to enlist in holding your shield of faith and wielding the sword of the Spirit on her behalf.
Excerpts/Updates from Mrs Avila’s mail to Elston…”…Firstly, Oscar and Anna prayed over our daughter who has cystic fibrosis, and I wanted to give them some updates as to her condition. She’s been on a gradual decline for the past year, with her pulmonary function dropping to a low 65%, and she’s had trouble on and off with gaining weight and growing. She’d also been diagnosed with liver disease related to the CF.
Anyhow, she just had a follow up visit at the CF clinic yesterday (Weds), and she gained 5 pounds in one month (she’s never gained that much in a month), and her pulmonary function test was up to 83%. My husband and I are so thankful to God for His continued healing work in her life, and we wanted to express our gratitude. . . Also, in spite of all the good news, she will be going into the hospital for a 2 week (routine) admission probably around the end of April, at Portsmouth Naval.
This is nothing really, just part of the care that goes along with CF, and will be her first hospitalization since she was 3 (she’s now 13).
p.s. I meant to tell you that when you prayed, “Cellular memory of Elena, return to the image of Christ, in which it was created,” that was significant, as CF is a defect of the chloride channel (CFTR) within each cell… I have listened to those powerful words again and again, as a reminder that God is able to do what we cannot, and to continue in hope.”
Her mom says: “She has to do a lot of breathing treatments every day, and she has to take a lot of medicine. The CF has damaged her pancreas, lungs, and more recently, her liver.
In spite of these challenges, Elena is a fairly normal teenager with many interests. She loves to sing, play musical instruments, play video games, hang out with friends, and go to her youth group functions. She has many aspirations for her adult life. Some of these include going to college, becoming a doctor, learning to sing contemporary opera or musical theater, playing in an orchestra, starting a band with her sisters, just to name a few. Elena is a beautiful young lady with a heart of compassion for the sick, and she loves to pray for others for healing.”

Godspeed, Anna

We will be lifting up Elena as a significant part of our extended family. Glad to hear that Elena has a love for worship. We need to connect our kidz with her and see what the Lord does!
Hi,
Hearing your struggles, Elena, brings me to tears. Tears of sadness for what you are going through and tears of joy knowing that God has you in the palm of His hand and will be with you always; bringing strengh, healing and carrying you. We love you and miss you, Ms Elena, and continue to lift you and the rest of the Avila Clan in our prayers.
“Come unto Me all who are weary and I will give you rest.” Rest in His care and know that He loves and cares for you more than ever.
Love you,
The Henderson Fam
Elena: God knew you before you were born and He placed His image in every cell of your body. That image was temporarily stolen from some of your cells by CF. When Oscar and Anna prayed for you, God restored His Image and every cell of your body now carries the Image of His Son, Jesus. You are whole.
I pray that you follow Jesus every day of your life and many people will come to know Him because of your life.
Love and Shalom (healing, health and peace). G’ma June.
